Maid sama 3 hiro fujiwara5/30/2023 Misaki just gets stronger and is trying to get used to the idea of opening up to others. I loved the character development with all of the characters. This was awesome and I can't wait to read more scenes that are just as funny as this one. I remember when I watched this scene in the anime and they did a great job with Usui's reactions to Misaki. This was such a cute volume, I loved the hypnotizing chapter so much, I found it hilarious. "Consider it an honor, because I don’t easily acknowledge anyone as being cuter than myself! Aoi Hyoudou." This fun read won't let you stop reading until you finish. Both of them go through crazy events and open up to each other. This secret wasn't kept for long because Usui, the most popular boy in school, finds out that Misaki is a maid. But she is secretly working as a maid in order to help her family repay the debt that they owe to others. If you haven't head about this series, it is about a girl named Misaki who is the president of the school. From now on, just leave everything to me." "Although you look cute when you are trying your best, now when things gone bad, I can’t just stand and watch. I wanted to write this review so I can start reading the 4th volume after I am done everything. I have a business assignment due on Monday but here I am writing this review. They are so alike, I am glad that I chose to read this manga! I haven't been able to read lately because of homework. Another great installment to the manga series Maid-Sama, I love this manga so much and I love the anime just as much.

Understanding comics amazon5/30/2023 I love this book because after you read it, you see the whole world differently. And who knows? It might even open up a whole genre for you. Even if you’re not at all interested in comics, I promise that you will learn something from McCloud. To quote Art Spiegelman, the “simple-looking tome deconstructs the secret language of comics while casually revealing secrets of time, space, art and the cosmos!” Originally published in the early 90s, this book has become a contemporary classic, and is in my top 10 all-time influential books on my own practice. But it’s also much more than that: using the medium of comics, Scott McCloud explains a whole world of visual communication and teaches lessons that apply to anyone working in any kind of visual medium. No amount of teaching can take the place of the familiarity you gain from years of reading and enjoying comic books. Of course, its best to be a reader of comic books. My May pick for our Read Like an Artist book club is one of my all-time favorites and a bonafide classic: Scott McCloud’s Understanding Comics. Understanding comics is easy if you keep some basic tenets in mind. Spotted Goddesses by Roja Singh5/30/2023 Karukku by Bama: Translated by Lakshmi Holmstorm, this autobiography is about the life of the writer, a former nun, which lies at the intersection of caste, gender and spirituality. Feel free to bookmark and catch up on these this weekend and let us know what you thought of them! To keep up this spirit, the staff of Breakthrough came up with a few film and book recommendations that will add on to our understanding of the anti-caste movement and Dalit history. It is necessary that we maintain the momentum throughout the year and beyond. The Dalit History Month, commemorated every April, may be over but it is important that we carry forward its essence and significance every single day. I am a reader who always gets bored in the first few chapters of the books, but this one interested me immediately from the very first chapter, which is uncommon for me when reading other series. Um…I’m a bit conflicted about what I think about this book.īecause depending on what you are looking for, this can determine whether you rate this book a 4 – 5 stars or 1 – 3 stars. Code talker by joseph bruchac audiobook5/30/2023 The book is not a difficult read, although some of its content reflects the horror that is war. In fact, Native Americans have always served in greater proportion to their populations than any other ethnic group. Yet in spite of the treatment, the Indian Nations have received, they have remained loyal citizens of the nation that oppresses them. Native Americans had been the victims of genocidal racism since America’s earliest days, and that same racism continues even today. What makes the work of the code talkers so remarkable, however, was the context in which it was used. The unbreakable nature of the native languages used by the American Indians who served as code talkers allowed messages to be communicated at the moment of need rather than after hours of being translated into and then out of codes. Code talkers used variations of their own native languages to convey urgent and top-secret messages from one combat unit to another without fear of being decoded or translated. Instead, it is a simple and straightforward telling of the story of one of America’s most important secret weapons, Indian Code Talkers. Code Talkers is not a book of eloquent literary writing. Vox the novel5/30/2023 It was a move that some saw coming but their voices weren’t loud enough to effect change while everyone else thought it was impossible. The America in which Vox is set had an election and the new President took society back centuries using new technologies. The America in which Vox is set hasn’t been hit by some undisclosed bio-weapon, there’s been no war, no sickness, no alien invasion. I also think that it’s not so hard to imagine that this could happen. Vox most definitely does that and I’m not sure if I find it so disturbing because I am one who would be directly affected by the world Dalcher has created or if it’s a more general fear. I think that dystopian is quite a disturbing genre, it’s a genre that looks into the future and re-imagines the world a little – and never in a good way. Vox is a near future dystopian novel that disturbed me in a way that many have not. There is also a quote from Elle “A petrifying re-imagining of The Handmaid’s Tale” and that is one that I can’t comment on because I haven’t read (or watched) The Handmaid’s Tale. The front cover of my copy has a quote from Prima “This book will blow your mind” and I completely agree. This was one of the most disturbing books that I have read in a while. I finished reading late last night and it has still been rolling around in my head. I have been totally immersed in Vox for the last couple of days and it’s a book that has stayed with me long after the book has been put down. Laura sebastian books in order5/29/2023 Since the rebels would like nothing more than to call Theo their queen, the Kaiser orders her to kill the prisoner as a way of alienating her from her would-be followers. He is rumored to be the leader of a group of rebels fighting to overthrow the Kaiser. One day, a man is dragged bound and bleeding into the palace. She doesn’t allow herself to dream of a better, happier life, for she knows the Kaiser will only be content if she is suffering. Nicknamed the Ash Princess, Theo has survived the past ten years filled with countless beatings by pretending to be an empty-headed miss who is content with the tiny little life the Kaiser is allowing her to lead. Her mother, the beloved Queen of Fire, was murdered before her eyes, and Theo herself was kept as a political prisoner of sorts. Theodosia was only six when her kingdom was claimed by the ruthless Kaiser, and in the blink of an eye, her life was turned upside-down. It’s a richly imagined young adult fantasy that kept me engrossed from start to finish, and, while it’s not an exact read-alike for Red Queen, it evoked the same feelings of joy and wonder I felt when first introduced to Aveyard’s world and characters. If you love Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen series as much as I do, you’ll definitely want to pick up Ash Princess, the first book in Laura Sebastian’s trilogy of the same name.
